ABOUT me

Although I was born, raised and educated in the United States, I have spent almost my entire adult life here in Tasmania. I initially came to Tassie as a young adult on something of a working holiday, but I immediately fell in love with the place and never looked back! I’ve since settled in Blackmans Bay with my wife, Ana, and our two daughters. Like many families, we work hard every day to provide for our kids and give them the best possible start in life.

Things weren’t easy growing up. My parents separated when I was quite young, and I spent much of my childhood with grandparents. I learned from them the value of hard work, personal responsibility, and that nothing in life comes for free. Those lessons have stayed with me ever since.

When I arrived in Tasmania, I felt a genuine sense of belonging and community. This is a place where people look after each other and everyone gets a “fair go”. I knew from that point that Tasmania is the place where I wanted to be.

I’ve spent my working life in diverse, but regular jobs- from the early days spent pulling pints in pubs, to stepping up and managing businesses in the hospitality/tourism sector, to operating my own small Tasmanian business, and later as the operations manager for a local aviation company. I learned a lot in each of these roles, but no matter the role, one thing was always consistent: people mostly want the similar things in life. They want to live with dignity, feel secure, and give their families a good life.

But I’ve also seen the growing frustration from everyday Tasmanians and small business owners who feel ignored by those in power. Too often, decision-makers are out of touch with the realities people face. If politicians ran a business the way governments are often run, it simply wouldn’t survive.

I chose to make Tasmania my home because I truly believe it’s one of the greatest places in the world. It’s where I want my daughters to grow up, learn, and build their futures. Our young people shouldn’t feel they have to leave the state to find opportunity.

Sadly, I believe our current politicians have become incredibly short-sighted, they’ve lost any sense of accountability, and they’re failing to plan properly for the generations to come.

I believe Tasmanians deserve better.

That’s why I’ve decided to stand for parliament as your independent candidate for the Legislative Council in Huon, to bring common sense, accountability, and genuine community representation back into Parliament.
